I was hot on the trail of what I thought would be THE ideal job that would allow me to travel AND get paid for doing it. I would be a Flight Attendant! Very early on it was clear to me that I would work in travel. Life took an awesome turn when I was introduced to Acapulco, Mexico when my best friend and I decided to take a well-deserved vacation. Both of us celebrated our 18th birthday that week - it's a bit blurry but memorable 
Our first time out of North America, who knew that one week in Acapulco would change my life forever, completely - this was a new beginning! Falling in love No, not with a guy (ok, so Miguel, the Baby 'O bouncer was pretty cool), but with Mexico, with speaking Spanish, with living here! I could see myself living here ... the beach, the ocean, the mountains, palm trees, taco carts on the street. The people were always smiling, so friendly. I felt right at home. So much in fact, that I returned 6 months later for another week! The turning point on that 2nd trip was when a waiter at our hotel asked me, "Andrea, why don't you come live here?" Yeah, why don't I? Another 6 months later, I sold my car, quit 3 jobs, and with only one suitcase and some cash in my pocket, headed to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico!! The rest, my friends, is history!
Life is awesome! I am utterly grateful for taking that leap of faith more than 20 years ago! I don't miss the jobs I left, the car I sold or the life I walked away from in Canada. This is not a dream but a dream come true. A decision, faith, and action opened my world up to a life I couldn't have ever imagined! Puerto Vallarta is home to me where the sun shines almost everyday (I love the rainy days, too), the scuba diving is fantastic, the gorgeous beaches are endless, the people are wonderful, the ocean is spectacular ... yup, a dream come true! I'm not telling you all this to brag but to let you know that you too can achieve the same, whatever it is, whether you want to work a cruise ship job, or live and work in Mexico or the Caribbean. It's easier to get a cruise ship job or Mexico job today than ever before. 'Travel' is an astounding $7 trillion a year industry!!! It's going to double in the next few years!! You are definitely in the right place at the right time.
