How many people do you know who would pack up their lives, quit their jobs, sell their belongings and move to 3rd World country? I've met a few. Sounds crazy but when it was happening to me it really felt quite right, like everything was falling right into place. Have you ever had that feeling? You know, when you've decided to do something seemingly so grand, and yet, you felt right on track ... like you were right where you were supposed to be? Well, it was like that for me when I was applying to be a Flight Attendant. This would be my career! I was going to have THE ideal job that would allow me to travel AND get paid for doing it. I had it figured out until ... Life took an awesome turn when I was introduced to Acapulco, Mexico. My best friend Dorothy and I planned the perfect well-deserved vacation. We both celebrated our 18th birthday in Acapulco, stayed at the best hotel, lounged 5star all day and danced & partied all night - it was a bit blurry but memorable! I could never have known that a week in Mexico would change my life forever, completely. In fact, in retrospect, isn't it always amazing how LIFE plays out? How circumstances, events, and people are introduced to us TO HELP US discover our paths, find our calling? Or ... Fall in love? There's no question that Miguel, the Baby 'O bouncer was very cool, but everything about Acapulco or Mexico just felt right. I could totally see myself living here ... the beach, the ocean, the mountains, palm trees, taco carts on the street. The people were always smiling, so friendly. I felt right at home. So much in fact, that I returned 6 months later for another week! The turning point on that 2nd trip was when a waiter at our hotel asked, "Andrea, why don't you come live here?" And I replied to myself, "Yeah, why don't I?" Before the year was out, I had cash for my new car, gave my jobs to someone else, and with only one suitcase, headed to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico!! The rest is history!
Life is awesome! Was it always easy? Absolutely not! But I embraced every day (good & bad), learned everything I could about Travel & Tourism, Hotel Management, Ground Handling, Tour Operators, Tours, destinations, etc. And you know what? I don't miss the jobs I left, the car I sold or the life I walked away from in Canada. You see, a lot of people would think that I was giving up a good job, a "secure" life, good pay, but I was really just cashing in my chips at the time for something BIGGER, BETTER! My dream became a dream come true. A decision, faith, and action opened my world up to a life I couldn't have ever imagined! I share this with you to let you know that I am only one of hundreds, thousands who make these moves, everyday. My intention is to help you transition from the idea in your mind to acquiring the seemingly impossible. Is working a cruise ship job, living in Mexico or the Caribbean for you? Only YOU can answer that but it's easier than you think! Scary? Maybe for some. Worth it? A million times over! 'Travel' is an astounding $7 Trillion a year industry!!!
